📄 CBSD faces Sunshine Act lawsuit

Central Bucks School District’s board members are accused of multiple violations of the Sunshine Act in a lawsuit.

The state law “requires agencies to deliberate and take official action on agency business in an open and public meeting. It requires that meetings have prior notice, and that the public can attend, participate, and comment before an agency takes that official action.”

The filing alleges the board did not adhere to required notices for public meetings and failed to publicly announce a meeting where board communication policies were discussed. The plaintiffs are also calling for sanctions regarding alleged deletions of relevant records the school board was instructed to retain. CBSD has until April 9 to respond to a plaintiff motion for summary judgment in their favor. The case can proceed to trial after June 13 if the motion is denied.

🚨 Mayhem in Perkasie

Police responded to an assault call on South Second Street and found Layth Fayed Taye Tawalbeh, 33, yelling at another man. He allegedly told cops he pointed an unloaded pistol at the victim and chased him with a butcher knife as the result of a fight. A second victim said they were also threatened with the handgun.

Police recovered the knife and pistol at the scene. Tawalbeh was being held in Bucks County Jail as of last weekend despite having bail reduced from $100,000 to $50,000.

Also in Perkasie: Police are seeking to identify several male youths who rode their bicycles inside Landis Supermarket on March 10. No vandalism was reported after the incident.

🐶 Rescue Dog of the Week

James Short | Central Bucks Now

Meet Toe, a 14-week-old Labrador mix currently being fostered through Home At Last Dog Rescue. Toe was rescued in South Carolina with siblings Tic and Tac and is an energetic and sweet boy. He loves to cuddle, explore, play with his toys and run around.

Toe is currently being crate- and house-trained and does well with other dogs. He enjoys meeting new people and would love another dog to play with. A good home would ideally have a backyard to run around in.

If you are interested in adopting Toe or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
