💨 Gas Leak Furor In West Rockhill
West Rockhill wants answers after a recent gas leak caused both a ruckus and a stink.
What happened: The hardware on an older stretch of pipeline failed at the Adelphia compressor station in Quakertown on Nov. 15. The subsequent leak reportedly generated a sound comparable to a roaring jet engine. The leak then persisted for two hours before being capped, causing fumes to carry as far as Perkasie. The station is part of a project retrofitting an 84-mile oil pipeline for natural gas; the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the plan in 2019 despite resident concerns about noise, pollution and public safety.
West Rockhill’s Board of Supervisors spent $300,000 on legal challenges to the project. And now it is criticizing Adelphia and FERC for a lack of transparency following the leak incident. “We’re not gonna let this thing sit,” board chairman Jay Keyser said. “Just because they have the authority to do whatever they want to do, they still have to provide us with answers for our residents’ safety and welfare. I’m gonna stay on it.”
Also in West Rockhill: An early proposal was made to construct a 12,000-square-foot commercial building on the southwest corner of the Bethlehem Pike and Forrest Road intersection. The applicant is a business that delivers, installs and repairs appliances for big box stores. The business would have roughly six employees and six company vehicles held on site.
🛒 Barcode Swap Scheme In Warrington
A Glenside couple is charged with bilking the Warrington Target out of almost $1,400 by switching barcodes on merchandise. The duo allegedly hit the store twice over a three-day period in September, changing the price codes on items before checking out. Police said they gave the store a loss of roughly $680 the first time and then made off with over $710 the second time.
Also: Everyone knows Wawa pretzels are good. But this good? A Philadelphia man out on bail after an alleged DUI with a stolen car was arrested at the convenience store chain’s Buckingham location earlier this month on felony shoplifting charges. He allegedly lifted four jalapeno-stuffed pretzels, two double packs of soft pretzels and two bananas. Police located the man at a makeshift shelter behind the Weis in town and spotted the stolen goods.

Meet Gabi, a 9-week-old Jack Russell/Terrier mix currently being fostered in Blue Bell through Home At Last Dog Rescue. She and her three brothers were rescued from a puppy mill in Lancaster.
Gabi is an active puppy who loves to explore the world and snuggle. She is still learning, so a home with patience is likely the best fit for her. If you are interested in adopting Gabi or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
