🪖 A scary incident at local Army recruiting center

Google StreetView

A Lower Salford man faces numerous felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly making a bomb threat against the Army Recruiting Center in Doylestown — and that is only the start of the story.

Jeffrey Edward Fountain, 30, is accused of banging on the center’s door on Jan. 27 around 11 a.m. and claiming he had placed a bomb next door. Central Bucks Regional Police then made contact with Fountain at the scene. He behaved erratically, claiming he was there to enlist, and then eventually began disrobing. Fountain stripped down to his underwear before being detained and taken to Doylestown Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Cops also later learned he had called a fake fire into 911 at the location of the recruiting center. He is free on $50,000 bail.

🚔 Bucks County man faces underage booze charges

Hilltown Police

Hilltown Police arrested a Dublin Borough resident on charges related to the alcohol poisoning of a minor.

A juvenile was admitted to Doylestown Hospital last October with a blood alcohol level of 0.228%, which is almost three times the legal limit of 0.08% for those of age. The victim drank liquor at a friend's house; cops and a state caseworker determined the alcohol was purchased and provided by 42-year-old Brian William Vanderleeuw. He has a hearing set in March and is currently free on $100,000 unsecured bail.

👷‍♂️ Development in Doylestown

A four-acre plot of land on Doylestown’s outer edge is about to be transformed.

The township’s supervisors have signed off on plans to turn the parcel at the intersection of Bristol and Upper State Roads into three separate residential lots. The land, which currently holds a “Welcome to Doylestown” sign, is a former tree farm and landscape yard right next to the borders with New Britain and Warrington. There will be three homes on the lot, as well as a bike trail. The town sign will be relocated and several dozen trees will be planted; an old home and a dilapidated poultry barn will be removed from the land.

🚨 A pair of East Rockhill disputes escalate

A brouhaha between East Rockhill neighbors over a trailer parked on Ridge Run Road boiled over when the trailer went missing. Pennridge Regional Police discovered it down the road and determined the non-trailer-owning neighbor had moved it without permission. No charges were filed.

Also in East Rockhill: A man allegedly impersonated a police officer during an altercation with an apparently reckless driver, who he followed and also reported to cops. The incident is under investigation.

🐶 Rescue Dog of the Week

James Short | Central Bucks Now

Meet Ziggy, a six-year-old Boston Terrier available for adoption through Home At Last Dog Rescue. She was rescued from a puppy mill in Lancaster and is currently being fostered in Blue Bell. Ziggy is a happy and loving girl who loves to play and is great with new people. She is crate-trained but could use a little work on her house training. She just had surgery on her knees, so a home with some patience for her recovery would be ideal.

If you are interested in adopting Ziggy or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
